Miss Laila Abdullatif, Associate  lyla.latif@rachieradvs.co.ke
Lyla is a Kenyan based lawyer with over 6 years experience as a trial litigator in the specialised areas of business law, international taxation, human rights, administrative law and securities regulation. She represents government and academic institutions, domestic and international businesses as well as private clients from the USA, Europe, Asia and East Africa on various corporate and commercial law matters pertaining to negotiating power purchase agreements between foreign and domestic Kenyan private companies, joint ventures between foreign multinational corporations and domestic Ministries, mergers and acquisitions in the commodities and aviation industry, corporate and tax restructuring, general advise on the legal implications of business ventures and conducting legal audits for her clients. Lyla is also a law lecturer at the School of Law, University of Nairobi, and a member of the Law Reform and Devolution Committee of the Law Society of Kenya. She has drafted the land law as well as privatization legislation for the Government of Kenya, advised NGOs on the impacts of Double Taxation Agreements and Global Wealth Chains in facilitating and impeding economic development, she was appointed as a legal researcher for the Directorate General for Research and Innovation of the European Commission in formulating and proposing a financing framework for the Right to Health and was a consultant to the World Health Organisation in undertaking field research in examining the Kenyan health sector at county level. Lyla holds a First Class Bachelor of Laws Degree and a Masters in Law having specialised in Public Finance and Financial Services Law from the School of Law, University of Nairobi. She also holds a second Master of Arts Degree from the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany in Public Policy, Development and Governance. She is trained in International Taxation from the University of Muenster in Germany and in Health Rights Litigation from Harvard FXB, USA. Some of her published works include scholarly research in anti money laundering, finance and the right to health.
