Under this Department, the Firm specializes in the areas of anti-counterfeit, antitrust and competition; insurance law; private equity law and privatization; trade and commerce; incorporation and re-structuring of businesses and companies; legal due diligence in public floatation’s and private acquisitions; media and telecommunication law; share rights issues; advice on Compliance with Capital Markets legislation and the Nairobi Securities Exchange’s (formerly Nairobi Stock Exchange) Rules and Regulations; mergers and acquisitions and general competition law having offered advice on the Competition Act, Capital Markets Act and the Capital Markets (Mergers and Acquisition) Regulations which are the main legislation with regard to mergers and acquisitions.

The Firm has diverse expertise in tax law and undertakes a wide range of tax advisory and consultancy services particularly on VAT, income act as well as customs and excise duty chargeable on imports and exports, and advises on goods exempted from duty. The Firm delivers meaningful advice on various licensing regimes relevant for import and exports, particularly on laws, procedures and requirements applicable for trade licences, import licences as well as various trade permits.

The Firm also offers the services of registration of and advise on intellectual property (IP) rights such as patents, copyrights and trademarks and has so far overseen registration of various brands. Other commercial transactions services including aviation, automotive and transport and information communication technology contracts and advisories are also offered by the Firm.
