Mr. Ambrose Otieno Rachier

Qualifications

Ambrose Rachier is the founder and Senior Partner of Rachier & Amollo Advocates LLP. He holds a Bachelor of Law Degree (LL.B) (Hons) from the University of Dar-es-Salaam, a Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M) from the University of Nairobi, M.A in Translation from the University of Nairobi, and a Diploma in French from the University of Madagascar. Mr. Rachier is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of South Africa. He also obtained a third Master’s degree in Bioethics from Trinity International University in August 2022.

Experience

As an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with over 40 years of experience, Mr. Rachier has garnered extensive expertise in Conveyancing, Commercial and Corporate Law. He is highly regarded for his proficiency in property transfers, securities perfection, and transactions for reputable banks with both local and regional operations. Mr. Rachier played a pivotal role in the revision of National Land Laws to align them with the 2010 Constitution.

In Commercial practice, he has advised and provided consultancy services in high-value transactions such as drawing commercial agreements, privatizations, legal audits of private companies and public corporations, corporate governance consultancies, and tax and customs compliance in the Finance, Insurance Banking, and other business sectors in the larger East African region.

On the international stage, Mr. Rachier serves in various advisory capacities overseeing development, implementation, and harmonization standards in medical ethics, health law, and medical research on a global scale. He has chaired significant committees including the Kenya AIDS Society, the Task Force on Laws relating to HIV/AIDS, and the implementation committee of the Report of the Task Force on legal issues relating to HIV and AIDS. Mr. Rachier is also a member of the Advocates (Remuneration) Committee, Kenya Medical Research Institute/National Ethical Review Committee, and chairs the Kenya Medical Research Institute/National Ethical Review Committee.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Rachier is actively involved in academia, presently lecturing at Strathmore University. His vast experience and contributions underscore his commitment to advancing legal standards and human rights in Kenya and beyond.
